Ferrari’s Perfect Car Launch
We may still have two car launches to go, but in my head Ferrari have already won. Nothing is going to top seeing the car out on track at Maranello with a grandstand full of Tifosi after a long winter break. Let’s get into the key talking points of the Valentine’s Day launch.
F1 2023 car on track
Much to the love of all Ferrari fans, we didn’t just get a livery reveal today, we got to see the car in it’s own “shakedown” on Ferrari’s home track. And good news Tifosi, the drivers gave it nothing but praise with Charles wanting to stay out for a few more laps instead of switching over with Carlos as promised! It was a big risk for the team to complete their first few laps live and in front of a crowd, especially after their reliability issues last season, so it was very encouraging to see the car complete it’s laps free of issues.
The SF-23 is a title contender?
More good news to come out of today’s event, the team say the SF-23 has been “completely redesigned”. Having tailed off at the end of last season and being close to ending up in 3rd after starting the season on top, this is what the Tifosi needed to hear. Enrico Cardile, head of chassis, detailed the aerodynamic changes that have increased vertical downforce and provided a greater balance to the car. As well as this, the suspension, structure of the nose and the front wing have been redesigned. If new Team Principle Vasseur can help the team to deliver a faster and more reliable car then surely the only way is up from here? I look forward to seeing what Bahrain brings.
